Apparent Homicide in Kingstowne

Victim was found with upper body injuries; police are investigating.

 

A man was found dead a little before 2 a.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of Broadmoor Street, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"It appears he was assaulted by an acquaintance and died as a result of trauma to the upper body," police reported this afternoon. Police did not specify what type of trauma.

The man has been identified as Mark Earl Ives, 30, of Alexandria. He lived in the neighborhood and collapsed outside a home on Broadmoore Street. Police are searching for the acquaintance but have not charged anyone in connection with this incident. 

The 5400 block of Broadmoor Street is adjacent to Hayfield Elementary School and across Telegraph Road from Hayfield Secondary School.
