Board of Supervisors to Hear Environmental, Tysons Issues
See the agenda for the Oct. 16 Board of Supervisors meeting.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will hear a presentation from the Private Sector Energy Task Force Tuesday detailing how the county can begin to become greener and energy efficient.
The task force, which is chaired by Leo Schefer, president of the Washington Airports Task Force, is expected to make a series of recommendations to supervisors. The recommendations may include mapping out how the county intends to meet its goal of a carbon-neutral Tysons Corner by 2030. The task froce also support incentives for property owners to invest in sustainable and green improvements to new and existing buildings in the county.
Later in the afternoon, the board will conduct a public comment period regarding the transportation-funding plan for needs in Tysons Corner.
According to the Fairfax County Planning Commission, there is a need for $3 billion in infrastructure improvements over the next 40 years. These improvements will help a redeveloped Tysons become the county’s “new downtown,” as planning commission officials have said.

Why should Tyson's become even more crowded and almost impossible to drive to the one store you are looking for rather than the commercial traffic, huge business offices and people rushing to who knows where, but the traffic lights aren't timed to the amount of traffic and so traffic is crammed on US7 thru Tyson's! NO! THE LAST THING WE NEED is another downtown center!

Just what Fairfax County needs..another directive from some "green" task force. They must have missed the study that shows that "global warming" ENDED 16 years ago and that Antarctica has more sea ICE than EVER RECORDED....Tyson Corner is a joke...have any of you people been there lately? If there was ever a case for VISUAL POLLUTION, it's the "new" Tysons Corners!

Believing things from the Daily Mail is dangerous. The Med Office explained why the plateau is both normal and expected, but has no implications for long-term global warming, including a chart that blows the Daily Mail away. Even Judith Curry, who believes in global warming but simply asserts that the models need to take account of natural variability, complains that she was misquoted.

Lights on the soccer fields at Bailey's and Ossian Park is what we should be worrying about! How do we make that happen?

I believe Fairfax County now deems night lights on a playing field to be LIGHT POLLUTION....Good luck getting any money out of Fairfax for something really useful...We all have to pay outrageous property tax rates for the Tyson Metro that NO ONE wanted.....except Gerry Connolly and his minions on the Board of Supervisors

@ Eric Jeffrey...in response to your post above.
What's dangerous is becoming so anesthetized and controlled by the "green" movement that you forget you are a human being not a slave to the planet. With all the "central planning", "comprehensive planning", "smart growth", and "Eco-friendly" regulating that is going on is a wonder the liberals even allow us to breathe anymore....You keep finding reasons why you should stay a slave to the big lie and I'll keep finding reason to not comply with the current media regime.
