Saturday: Chessie's BIG Backyard Ceremony

Join your neighbors at Lee District Park to celebrate the opening of the Tiki Village Area, the first section of Chessie's BIG Backyard.

The Fairfax County Park Foundation will celebrate the completion of the first section of Chessie's BIG Backyard, the Tiki Village Area, Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony

The fully-accessible play area joins the Special Harbor and Treehouse sections which opened in 2011 at the Family Rec Area in Lee District Park. The enitire project has a Chesapeake Bay theme.

The Tiki Village Area cost $400,000 to build and was supported by donations and sponsorships.  The next two sections of Chessie's BIG Backyard will include the Nautical Cove and the Tree Top Haven.  These two projects are estimated to cost $730,000 and $675,000 respectively.

Funding for the next phases of the project has not been secured yet.  For more information or to make a donation, please visit fairfaxparkfoundation.org
