Daryl Hannah Arrested Outside White House

U.S. Open update, Hurricane Irene bill adding up fast

 
  1. It’s another lovely day today!  The high will be 84 degrees with 74% humidity.  Although we’ll see some cloud cover, the UV index is rated at “very high,” so be sure to wear your sunscreen.
  2. Actress Daryl Hannah was arrested outside the White House Tuesday for protesting the Key Sands XL tar sands pipeline. 
  3. Hurricane Irene inflicted an estimated $7 - $10 billion in damages, ranking it among what could be the 10 most costly catastrophes in the United States. For some Americans, that damage may not be covered by their insurance because it was caused by flooding which is excluded in many standard policies. 
  4. At 7:30 p.m. tonight, Aug. 31, enjoy a free concert at Lee District Park. The Sock Monkeys  play classic soul, british invasion, California surf rock, and Jersey Shore music all with their own unique twist. They promise an action-packed live performance you won’t forget!
  5. In the U.S. Open which is held from August 29- September 11, watch Round 2 of the women’s singles as Bondarenko takes on Zvonareva in the Arthur Ashe Stadium. In the Grand Stand Stadium the Men’s singles face off with Soderling and Sorensen.
