Kingstowne: Not Many Power Outages
Most of Kingstowne appears to have suffered little damage from Friday night's storm.
With more than 200,000 Dominion Power customers in Northern Virginia without power, Kingstowne appears to have been spared from Friday's "derecho" storm damage compared to other surrounding areas.
Many Northern Virginians may have been forced to seek cool air at their local cooling shelter due the loss of power. Yet on Sunday afternoon, Andrew Kim, manager of Lee District RECenter, said that the facility has been designated as a cooling shelter, but nobody seemed to be there for that purpose.
Kim also said that the indoor pool and sprayground were pretty crowded.
Many other businesses also seem to be operating normally including Kingstowne 16 and Giant Food. However, if you need ice, you might need to venture out of the area. Several Kingtowne businesses ran out of ice by Sunday afternoon.
Are you still without power? How are you staying cool? Tell us in the comments!
