Meet Franconia District's Officers of the Fourth Quarter
Officers Ryan Lazisky and Chris Crawford closed four cases in a day.
Fairfax County Police Officers Ryan Lazisky and Chris Crawford have been selected as Franconia District Station's Officers of the Fourth Quarter.
According to a release from the station, Lazisky and Crawford, on assignment at Springfield Mall, were dispatched to a vehicle tampering report near Home Depot on Frontier Drive on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011.
While responding to the report, the officers saw two men, one of whom had a backpack, walking away from the parking garage.
They interviewed the men, who they had seen earlier without the backpack, and asked where they had gotten it, the release says. When the men consented to a search of the bag, Lazisky and Crawford found electronics and an empty gun holster.
The police discovered that the same electronics had been reported stolen from a car at Home Depot. The suspects were then apprehended. In addition to the stolen electronics, the men were also in possession of a loaded handgun.
They confessed to breaking into cars and two homes.
Lazisky and Crawford were awarded the Officer of the Quarter honor for closing four cases in a day.
