Motorcyclist Sent to Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries
The accident between a motorcycle and a van has closed down Route 1 southbound to traffic.
UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: Route 1 at Telegraph Road is now open, according to Fairfax County Police.
A crash at Route 1 and Telegraph Road Wednesday afternoon involving a van and motorcycle has sent the motorcyclist to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Officer Eddy Azcarate, spokesman for the Fairfax County Police Department.
The motorcyclist, driving a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was involved in a crash with the driver of a tan minivan and was flown to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
The driver of the minivan, a woman, was also sent to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 911 call came in to Fairfax County Police at 12:34 and police were on the scene at 12:35 p.m.
A crash reconstruction team from Fairfax County is on the scene.
The accident has closed down Route 1 southbound to traffic. Southbound drivers are being diverted to Fairfax County Parkway. Traffic headed north on Route 1 cannot make a left onto Telegraph Road.
