Mount Vernon girls basketball defeated Edison 73-47 Friday evening at Edison High School in a rematch of last year's National District championship.

Fueled by Chanel Shannon's four three-pointers, the Majors strung together a 44-point second half to grab the team's eighth consecutive victory.

Edison's Averi Collins led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points while Ruth Sherrill contibuted with 11. The Eagles find themselves in unfamilair territory in the midst of a three-game losing streak.
