Police still are still on the lookout for a man who may be wanted in a string of sex assaults in and around the Springfield area. Police say the suspect grabbed a woman’s buttocks in Falls Church and did not let go until she screamed in October.
The man approached the woman while she walked pushing her baby carriage near the intersection of South Maple Avenue and Gibson Street around 4 p.m. on Oct. 19.
Police are looking to see if this alleged suspect is connected to five or six similar incidents that happened in Fairfax County in September.
Police ask the community to be aware of your surroundings:
- Do not wear headphones or ear buds. It is very difficult to hear cars, sirens, or someone running behind you when you are preoccupied with music.
- When talking on a cell phone, be aware of what is going on around you.
- Walk in lighted areas.
- Keep your hands free, not overloaded.
- If you are being followed: cross the street, scream, run to an occupied residence or store, or flag down a car and call 911.
Anyone with information about the possible suspect should call Detective Richardson at 703-248-5238.
