Prosecution Subpoenaes Defendant's Medical Records in Wyatt Campbell Murder Case
Prosecution requests treatment records around date of Campbell's death
The prosecution in the Wyatt Campbell murder case has subpoenaed the medical records for days around the date of Campbell's death of the 15-year-old Rose Hill teen accused in the case.
Campbell, an 18-year-old Rose Hill resident, died on Oct. 14 from stab wounds on his upper torso. It is Patch policy not to name minors accused of crimes.
The subpoena, filed in December and sent to the Inova Healthplex at 6355 Walker Lane in Kingstowne, requests the defendants' treatment records from Oct. 14, 15, and 16, including:
- Diagnosis and treatment of injuries the defendant received
- Subsequent treatment
- Reports and notes regarding any medical procedures the defendant received
The murder trial is scheduled for April 11, in the court of Circuit Court Judge Brett A. Kassabian.

I've had to delete some comments naming the defendant in the case because he is a juvenile. We don't name juveniles charged with crimes--until that policy changes, any comments using the defendant's name will be deleted.
We recognize this is a sensitive story, and we'll do our best to balance respect for that with the need to report on the upcoming trial. If you think we've failed in that, please get in touch. Leave a comment, send me an email (will@patch.com), or call me (571-268-6955). I'd love to talk with you.

Mr Sommer,
No I don't agree with the policy as I stated to you in my email. Wyatt was loved by many well no by HUNDREDS. We miss him more then you could ever imagine. I wish this on no family or parents. Wyatt went from as a a beautiful blonde hair blue eyed boy to a Wonderful kind hearted young man
I didn't get to spend time with him the last couple years not because I didn't want to, just things happen, you take time for granted. You always see tragedies like this, and you think this will never happen to my family. But it did all because a 15 year old decided to play fate. My heart breaks everyday for my best friend his mother, no one should have to bury their child espec at 18 when their life was just beginning, Wyatt's life was amazing. He had the best parents, a wonderful brother, loving Grandma and all us aunts and uncles. And we had WYATT :).. Now we have a gravesite to visit, all because a 15 year old decide to stab him to death over something stupid. Judge declared him a adult, so should your paper.
