SPEAK OUT: Should FBI Headquarters be Located in Springfield?
Fairfax County Supervisors are in full support of FBI headquarters relocating in the Springfield area. What do you think?
For months now, local, state and congressional leaders have been discussing six potential sites for a new FBI headquarters. One of the six locations being considered is Fairfax County's preferred location, a federal warehouse near the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station.
Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay is in full support of the FBI headquarters locating in Springfield because it would be located right across from the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station and a Virginia Express Rail ride away from Quantico.
Recently, McKay urged the WMATA Board Members to avoid taking sides and to be fair when he found out about WMATA offering the 78 acres of land it owns at the Greenbelt station to promote the relocation of the FBI headquarters.
Besides the Springfield area, other locations being considered include Herndon, at Dulles Airport, in Dumfries, at Fort Belvoir or at Quantico.

Absolutely! that area is an eyesore, the Franconia Metro is an obvious location for the site for easing the ever worsening traffic in this area!!!

Of course it is, just as it was smarter to place the Mark Center here rather than building an unnecessary monstrosity with no public transportation! However, those who make the decisions seem to lose logic and only care about what is best for them. So, we will see. I'm curious about the Victory Center on Eisenhower. How come it has been empty so long? It is a prime location. I don't understand why we keep building when there are existing buildings to choose from.
