Springfield Sex Offender Arrested in ICE Sweep

Operation SOAR nets 15 convicted sex offenders in Virginia

A Springfield resident originally from El Salvador was arrested last week, as part of an operation to deport alien sex offenders living in Virginia.

The operation, named SOAR (Sexual Offender Alien Removal), netted 14 other convicted aliens found guilty of sex crimes, according to a statement from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE agents from the agency's Fugitive Operations Program led the arrests, and were supported by Virginia State Police and local police departments.

The Springfield resident had been convicted on a charge of carnal knowledge of a child between 13 and 15 years old, according to a map of the arrests provided by ICE (pictured). It is not known whether the Springfield resident was a man or a woman.
