UPDATE: Report of Suspicious Package Shuts Down Telegraph Road

Telegraph Road was re-opened at 12:24 p.m.

Update: Friday 4 p.m.

Lucy Caldwell, spokesperson for Fairfax County Police Department, said that the suspicious package reported at 8:55 a.m. ended up being a diaper bag. There was no threat to public safety, and Telegraph Road was re-opened at 12:24 p.m.

Caldwell added that the person who first noticed the bag did the right thing by calling the police. The witness noticed someone dropping the bag off near the Department of Defense building.

Just heard a lot of sirens coming from that general direction (I live in Hayfield Farm) -- is this incident still ongoing?
