Telegraph Road Closed Jan. 14-17
Road will be closed for destruction of old Beltway bridge.
Construction relating to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge will cause closures on Telegraph Road that will go into effect beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, and last until 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17.
According to an email release from Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay, both the north and southbound lanes of Telegraph Road will be closed, as well various exit and entrance ramps to the Capital Beltway outer loop, which includes I-95 and I-495.
The closures will allow for the old Beltway bridge to be demolished in a single weekend, according to the release.

Thank you for the link. The signs which have only said "Telegraph Rd to Close Jan 14th" have really not been that helpful, being as it's a very long road.
Does anyone else feel the signage for the Telegraph/495 interchange project has been consistently awful, and only on rare occasions actually reflected the current state? I know there have been many nights when I've been on the inner loop about to exit onto Telegraph Rd southbound only to find orange barrels blocking the road with no prior warning. The past week this seems to have gotten better, but it's been over a year and they seem very late in the game to be finally putting up correct signs.

Great update & much better than the signs.
This is just another example of the value I receive from The Patch.

Tony, I agree. I live right off the Eisenhower Ave. Exit and it seems like they're changing the ramps and orange barrels on a daily basis. It makes it very confusing, and it has also led me to take the wrong exit on several occasions.

Does anyone have any idea when the Telegraph interchange work will be complete? The Wilson Bridge Project website says "Fall 2010" ...

Kathy,
Thanks for your comment. We're working on a story regarding the Telegraph interchange as we speak!
