Three Eagles Score in Double-Digits as Edison Routs Lee
Graham, Sherrill, and Dua fill it up for Edison
The defending National District champion Edison Eagles continued their dominant run with an impressive 62-19 win over Lee Tuesday night at Lee High School. Three Edison players scored in double figures, with sophomore Ruth Sherrill leading the way with 19.
The Eagles played a near-flawless game, finishing strong with 18 fourth-quarter points, the most scored in all four quarters of the game. In addition to playing great offense, the Eagles' defense was stout, limiting Lee to only one point in the second quarter of the contest.
Edison was impressive from the line as well, going 12-for-15. Sophomore Christine Dua converted all nine of her free throw attempts.
With the game in hand, Edison was able to give valuable minutes to a few of the team's underclassmen. Freshman point guard Brittany Allen's contribution from the bench impressed Edison head coach Diane Lewis.
"She came in and gave us some really good minutes. I was pleased to see her come off the bench and play really well for us," Lewis said.
Allen fished the evening with 5 points. In addition to hitting a three pointer, she moved the ball well and contributed with several assists late in the game.
When asked about the strength of this year's Edison team, Lewis said "Our quickness and athleticism. We have people playing in the post who are really guards, they just happen to be really big guards. That gives us an edge."
Next up, Edison hosts Langley on December 10.
