The opening date of the Wegmans at Beaulah Street and Telegraph Road is still TBD, but officials with the real estate company handling the Hilltop Village Center project say construction is progressing on time.
Wegmans will be the anchor store of the new Hilltop Village Center, a new shopping and office center operated by Weingarten Realty.
Wegmans is scheduled to open in 2014. Neither Wegmans nor Weingarten Realty Property Manager Gene Douglas could provide a more specific opening date.
Right now, the closest Wegmans to this area is at 11620 Monument Drive in Fairfax. There are also Wegmans near Dulles, Gainesville and Woodbridge.
In addition to Wegmans, the current tenant list is:
- BB&T
- Day Spa
- Elevation BurgerGreen Turtle Sports Bar and Grille
- Hilltop Dental
- Kim Wet Cleaners
- Massage Envy
- Mattress Warehouse
- Panda Express
- PNC Bank
- Verizon Wireless
- Vichelle’s Hair Styling
There are about 20 spaces left for tenants, though some spaces may be subdivided or combined, depending on the needs of the establishment.
Click here for a map of the planned development.
In addition to the retail shopping (about 250,000 square feet of it), the development includes a planned 100,000 feet of office space, according to the Weingarten website.

I know they have been trying to get a gym in here and even had amendments to their plan approved to allow for businesses like this, what is the hold up? There are no good health clubs in the area and several have expressed interest in moving into Hilltop which is why I have trouble understanding why the real estate companies leasing the space can't close a deal??

There are more than a dozen spaces left for retail, so there's hope yet! The ones we listed are the only ones that are definitely confirmed tenants.

I'd love to hear from the real estate company as to why there have been problems closing on a gym. Previous diagrams had a Sport and Health Club, then an LA Fitness. Both companies are aggressively expanding around the area opening new clubs, but for some reason Hilltop just can't close a deal. What's the problem?

There better be plenty of parking at this facility. Look at the parking nightmare at the Fairfax and Dale City/ Woodbridge locations. Police sometimes have direct traffic in and out during the holidays ---totally insane! Folks will come from the Rt. 1 Corridor once the cut-through is opened, and this no doubt will hurt further the Hayfield Shopping Center and Kingstowne Safeway/ Giant shopping complex. And please, DON'T make it one entrance in and one entrance out like the Old Navy complex in Springfield. Talk about wasting time and gas with lights and traffic.

I wouldn't worry about those of us from Mount Vernon being too much of a traffic impact. Quite honestly, so many of us already do our shopping in Hayfield/Kingstowne now anyway. The cut-through will make it easier and less "hellish" with the Richmond Highway traffic. But, I'd venture to say that those who will be coming to Wegman's are already in that neck of the woods doing most of their shopping already.

Would hope wegmans draws same stores as in Woodbridge complex , we could use a pf changs or other upscale eateries/ retail. This is looking more like best buy shopping center low rent tenants

I agree, the leading company seems to be doing a poor job attracting/keeping interested high end stores. There have been a number of nice restaurants (and gyms as I mentioned previously) that were on their plans then pulled off. I'm not sure why there is such difficulty in attracting and closing more high end tenants.

Why does the article mention the Fairfax Wegman's as closer than the Woodbridge one? That's weird. I wonder how this will affect housing prices in the area and surrounding areas (i.e. Lorton).

Right after this article they updated the site plan with several items that were previously removed; however most of them still say "Interest" rather than "signed lease". I really hope they get some good things in here because Panda Express just sucks!
