Wegmans, Hilltop Village Set to Open in 2014

Construction is currently taking place on the store at the corner of Telegraph Road and Beulah Street.

The future Hilltop Village Wegmans near the intersection of Telegraph and Beaulah Roads is still just a pile of dirt at the moment, but locals can look forward to the opening in 2014.

Wegmans updated its website with the anticipated opening, though it still doesn't provide an exact opening date.

In November 2011, much of the site was purchased by Texas-based Weingarten Realty for $13.6 million.

Construction began in January 2012, after a lawsuit opposing the site was rejected in the Virginia Supreme Court in August 2011.

In addition to the 140,000 square foot Wegmans building, four retail buildings will be constructed that will add up to a combined 125,000 square feet.

Along with Wegmans, confirmed tenants include Hilltop Dental, Massage Envy, Mattress Warehouse, Panda Express, Verizon Wireless, Green Turtle Sports Bar and Grill and BB&T.

The high-end grocery store also has locations in Woodbridge, Fairfax and Sterling.

Was hoping for something like the Wegmans plaza in Woodbridge. Something more high end. REI, perhaps?

KLNB is doing a horrible job, 1. construction has been pushing dirt around for what seems like a year and 2. the confirmed tenants other than Wegmans are all poor choices for the area. Two burger joints in the same plaza? What about a gym to burn off all those burgers!!! A Mattress Warehouse when there is a Sleepy's and a Mattress Discounters in Kingstowne? A cleaners and dentist when there are both right across the street in the Landsdowne Center?? Why couldn't Lorton get the Stonebridge group! I am so jealous of Woodbridge's higher end shops like Orvis and Loft to their variety of restaurants, even if they are chains they are more higher end than Green Turtle and don't even get me started on Panda Express.

Agree. I don't mind driving to the Wegman's in Woodbridge because there are so many desirable retailers there: Gymboree, REI, DSW, Jos A Banks, ULTA. I am disappointed that the Wegman's in Alexandria will not have a similar array of retailers.
