Weigh in on New Playground at Lee District Park

The Park Authority is accepting comments on a new playground area through July 10.

Now is your chance to weigh in on the construction and installation of a new playground at Lee District Park in Franconia. The Fairfax County Park Authority is accepting public comment on the project through July 10.

“The new playground would be an addition to the Family Recreation Area of the park, which is a unique, fully-accessible destination recreation area for children and their families with physical and other special needs,” according to a Park Authority press release.

A spray park, tree house and playground for children ages 5 to 12 are already open at the park.

The new playground will be funded in part through a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

You may email your comments to: parkmail@fairfaxcounty.gov, or write to David R. Bowden, Director, Planning & Development Division, Fairfax County Park Authority, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Suite 406, Fairfax, Virginia 22035.

I'm confused about what I'm supposed to be commenting on. I went to the site, looked at the overall picture, which (though hard to see) looks awesome. What input are they looking for?

Love, love, love this new playground! Fun for the kids, big slides, cute design, nice soft padding for our feet (and accidental falls)...but I think it is meant for bigger kids. That's fine for me, especially since the splash park is geared towards the littler ones.

I agree with Rachel. The park is a wonderful addition. It appears to stay pretty busy, no matter what time of day you go. Kids have fun, love the plush padding. But I too was surprised the age level for the playground is 5-12. I thought it was supposed to be geared towards the smaller group. My grandson is 3, and he had no problem getting around, but it doesnt do much for kids smaller than that.
