While the majority of our members are “for profit” businesses, about 5% of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce membership is comprised of non-profit organizations. Allow me to introduce you to one of these members – Hope For The Warriors .
Hope For The Warriors is a 501(c)(3) organization supporting wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen. Founded in 2006 this national organization with over 40 staff has their main office in Annandale. Hope For The Warriors assists combat-wounded warriors and their families in many ways including family care, financial needs, morale trips, and professional development.
Hope For The Warriors hosts an annual black-tie gala to build awareness and honor our nation’s military heroes and their families. The Got Heart, Give Hope Gala will be held April 17 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington DC. The annual Hope & Courage Awards will be presented at the gala.
I was pleased to learn that Fort Belvoir Garrison Commander, COL Gregory D. Gadson, is one of Hope For The Warriors 2013 military honorees. COL Gadson was severely wounded in an IED attack in May 2007. Regardless of his injuries he has never stopped serving and caring for the soldiers in his command. Today COL Gadson oversees more than 50,000 military personnel and civilian employees at Fort Belvoir.
