The public is invited to join local officials, project sponsors and young fun-seekers as the first section of Chessie’s BIG Backyard officially opens. This magnificent playground already features a tiki village designed for children ages 5 to 12.
Ribbon cutting ceremonies will take place on Saturday, June 16 at 3 p.m. Chessie’s BIG Backyard is located within the Family Recreation Area at Lee District Park.
Due to limited parking, guests are invited to take a shuttle bus from Rose Hill Elementary School located at 6301 Rose Hill Drive in Alexandria, VA. Shuttle Service will run from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Lee District Park is located off Telegraph Road and across from Rose Hill Drive. This 138-acre site functions as a community center and features everything from Little League fields and a turf football field to an amphitheater and carousel. Lee District Park is home to the Lee District RECenter, and the Pioneer baseball and Lee Franconia football leagues.
