Marijuana Law Discussion, Satin Doll Trio and Dumbarton Oaks

Good morning, Kingstowne! You made it over the hump and the weekend is almost here. Check out some of the events you can look forward to in and around Kingstowne today.

Satin Doll Trio 
begins its set at 7:30 p.m. at the Carlyle Club. The trio performs jazz, swing and Latin dance on a stage overlooking an expansive dance floor. $15 and two blocks from the King Street Metro, 411 John Carlyle St. in Alexandria. Call 703-548-8800 for more information.

It’s a great day for a stroll in a garden
 alongside Byzantine and pre-Columbian art at Dumbarton Oaks. The garden is open Tuesday through Sunday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is free but admission to the garden costs $8, $5 for seniors, students and ages two to 12. The art museum and shop is located at 1703 32nd St., NW, Washington. 202-339-6401.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7327 is hosting Bingo in Springfield. Early birds will begin at 7 p.m. Regular games will begin at 7:45 p.m. at the Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, located at 7011 Backlick Rd.

Nationally known defense attorney and a founding member of National NORML, John Zwerling will discuss marijuana laws and other legal issues in Ballston Thursday evening.

Fairfax County's Chronic Disease Self-Management Program free workshop series for individuals concerned or frustrated by living with an ongoing health condition in everyday life will be held Thursdays, September 5-October 10, 2013 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Belle View Baptist Church,7415 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria.
