It's Tuesday, Aug. 12 and if you find yourself with nothing on your schedule today, try a few of these local events. Patch has also included some local information you should know about.

Springfield Mall Update. Restaurant leasing at the soon-to-be Springfield Town Center is almost complete. However, Vornado is being tight-lipped about the tenant list. The town center is expected to open in late 2014.

Music on the Mall happens Tuesdays at noon
 through Aug. 29. Today, listen to Mary Alouette, a Washington, DC native heavily influenced by guitarist Django Reinhardt. All concerts in this series are held at 7th and Jefferson Drive at the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Learn about a secret rescue – the untold story of American nurses
 and medics who crash-landed behind Nazi lines in November 1943. Author Cate Lineberry discusses her book on the subject and signs books as well. The event is at noon, it’s free and no registration is required at the Spy Museum, 800  F St., NW, Washington, DC.
