Good Shepherd's Shannon Steene to be Recognized for Service
Fairfax County Supervisors Jeff McKay, Penny Gross, Cathy Hudgins and Gerry Hyland proposed recognition for Shannon Steene for his 13 years of work with the non-profit organization.
Shannon Steene, executive director for Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services (GSH), may be recognized for years of service after the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a joint matter regarding Steene's service.
Steene has been with GSH for 13 years and was named executive director in 2004.
According to Fairfax County Supervisors Penny Gross, Gerry Highland, Cathy Hudgins and Jeff McKay, who joined on the matter, Steen has been a significant part of the leadership team for the organization over the years and will leave GSH in June to continue his career with a nationally-focused non-profit organization.

The matter further states:
During Shannon’s tenure, Good Shepherd Housing has been recognized for its effective and innovative programs. It is currently a finalist for the Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management, named the 2012 Nonprofit of the Year by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, earned the Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s 2012 Board Leadership Award, and was featured in the 2009 Meyer Foundation Annual Report.

The Board of Supervisors have agreed to recognize and award Steene for his work with GSH during its meeting on July 30.
