Dog's 'Artwork' Sells for $378 on eBay

Terrence Nowlin's dog Jack ate a part of his shoes and Nowlin posted it as artwork on eBay.

The art world officially has a new, four-legged member. The half eaten shoe by Jack the Canine Artist recently sold on eBay for $378, said Jack's owner Terrence Nowlin.

Jack, a Dalmation mix that Nowlin adopted from the animal shelter in Culpeper County, recently managed to eat a portion of the left foot to a $200 pair of Cole Haan wingtips. Instead of being upset, Nowlin posted the shoe on eBay for fun and was surprised to get a bid of $150.

Nowlin, a Rose Hill resident, said Jack's artwork received a total of 38,000 auction views and about 1,500 watchers on eBay. Since posting the shoe, the story has also caught the attention of GuyismHappy Place and CNN.

Nowlin plans to donate $150 to the Humane Society of Fairfax County and get something for Jack and himself with the rest of the money.

"Shipping, packaging, the 'presentation box' that I included, and eBay fees took a pretty fair chunk out of the remainder," Nowlin said in an email. "But I'm sure there will be enough left over for a new pair of shoes and a toy or two for Jack."
