Festival of Flowers Prepares for Valentine's Day Rush

Local florist, Carol Chabra, has been receiving orders since last week.

For the past few weeks, Festival of Flowers in Kingstowne has been taking Valentine's Day orders and preparing for the rush on what some consider one of the most romantic days of the year. The holiday is just around the corner, and locals are making orders for the special day.

"It looks like there'll be a lot of orders of roses and lilies," said owner Carol Chabra. "They'll usually look for the names of flowers they're familiar with."

Festival of Flowers has a store special for half a dozen roses and star gazer lilies for $60. The shop offers arrangements of all sizes and prices, starting at $30. Chabra said they expect to have 75 to 100 deliveries a day for the next few days, and they will be delivering all day Feb. 14 until every arrangement is delivered.

Chabra said she and her employees are preparing for customers who plan ahead and for those who will walk in her shop on Valentine's Day.

"I hate to say it, but this is a man's holiday, and it's all last minute," Chabra said.

Chabra said she expects to have late orders on Valentine's Day for those who may have forgotten about the holiday or didn't get around to putting in an order.

"We encourage some customers to order early and have them delivered a day or two before the 14th, so they can enjoy the flowers the whole day," Chabra said.

Festival of Flowers asks that customers with special requests or who prefer a specific color of roses call in early for their orders. Balloons, cards and stuffed animals are also available at the flower shop.
