Grab and Go: Family Planner

President's Day Weekend is here and the area offers plenty of ways to celebrate our history.

Wondering how to spend your weekend with the kids and what is going on in and around the greater Rose Hill area? Our Grab and Go Family Planner has activities to celebrate President's Day and beat the cooler weather expected this weekend. You can't live in a better location to celebrate our Nation's leaders. 1. President's Day Weekend Celebration:

Find out what's happening in Kingstowne-Rose Hillwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: Mount Vernon Estate; 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Cost: $15/ Adults, $7/Children 6-11, Free, Children 6 and under. Why not celebrate President's Day at the heart of where it all began? The Mount Vernon Estate has a weekend full of family friendly activities celebrating the birthday of George Washington. Tip: Admission is FREE on Monday, February 21st. 

2. Presidential Family Fun Day

Find out what's happening in Kingstowne-Rose Hillwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum; 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost: FREE. Kids can make a "Happy Presidents' Day Card" for President Obama and the Marine Corp Band will be preforming.

3. Disney on Ice

Where/When: Verizon Center; 12:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. Cost: $15-75 . All the magic of Disney in one great preformance as The Verizon Center presents, Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes. The show begins on Thursday, February 17th and runs through Monday, February 21st.

4. Make it a Movie Day

Where/When: Regal, Kingstowne 16 or AMC, Hoffman 22; Showtimes Vary. Cost: $8-$11. Go see Gnomeo & Juliet or satisfy your tween's Beiber Fever with Justin Beiber: Never Say Never. Looking for something different? Check out the IMAX movies offered at the Smithsonians.

5. George Washington's Birthday Parade

Where/When: Old Town Alexandria, City Hall's Market Square; 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Cost: Free. Old Town boasts “The largest parade celebrating Washington’s birthday in the USA!” The parade route covers over a mile of Old Town.
