Wondering how to spend your weekend with the kids and what is going on in and around the greater Rose Hill area? Our Grab and Go Family Planner has activities to enjoy the weekend. This is also a great weekend to enjoy some fabulous free activities.

1. Tots Rock:

Find out what's happening in Kingstowne-Rose Hillwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: Smithsonian Air and Space Museum; 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Cost: FREE

Enjoy three of the museum’s highlights for kdis: A show in the planetarium, the story “The Sun is My Favorite Star," and a concert.  This activity is geared for ages 3-8.

Where/When: Home Depot, 7710 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: FREE

This workshop teaches children the safety and use of tools. This month, kids can build a Home Depot Race Car.

Where/When: 301 King Street, Alexandria; 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Cost: FREE

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Old Town. The events begin at 10 a.m. with a car show, followed by a dog show at 11 a.m. and the parade at 12:30 p.m.

Bring your flashlights for this nighttime walk on the hike and bike trail. Discover frogs, owls, waterfowl and more.

Where/When: Hidden Oaks Nature Center; 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Cost:$6.

Children ages four and up are invited to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with tales about Yertle the Turtle and Gertrude McFuzz. Woodland creatures will be on display and kids can make crafts.
