Here Comes Winter: Temperatures Could Dip to the 30s (Yes, the 30s)

Mabel, bring the flowers indoors.

Don't look now, but here comes winter. Blame typhoon Wipha.

The Capital Weather Gang reports that the typhoon is creating conditions that will hit the eastern two-thirds of the United States wtih temperatures that could dip into the low 30 in just about a week.

Temperatures in our area, of course, are supposed to dip this time of year. But not this much this soon.

Average highs fall from the upper 60s to the low-to-mid 60s over the next 14 days in the D.C. area in a typical year, the Weather Gang reports, but by late next week highs are likely to be only in the 50s. Lows could even be cold enough to bring frost or freezing conditions in DC’s north and west suburbs.

Bottom line from the Gang: "It’s not really a question of whether the cool air will arrive, but rather how cool it will be."
