Man Rescued from Early Morning Townhouse Fire in Fairfax County

Rescued man and firefighter suffer injuries. Officials investigating cause of blaze.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to an early morning townhouse fire at 8556 Towne Manor Court.

According to the Fairfax County fire report, firefighters confronted a barrage of flames coming from the three-story townhouse upon arrival. The fire was so massive that a total of 60 firefighters were called to the scene.

Officers combated the blaze and rescued one man from a third floor bedroom. A second man escaped the house unscathed. Four pets were rescued by firefighters and transported to a local veterinary clinic.

The rescued man was flown to Washington Hospital Burn Center with life-threatening injuries.  A firefighter on scene was taken to the hospital after suffering a non-life threatening injury. 

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
