Mishap leads to Apartment Fire in Fairfax County

Fire investigators report food abandoned on stove caused blaze.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Units responded to an apartment fire Thursday morning on 8201 Russell Road.

According to fire investigators, the fire was caused by abandoned food on the stove. No one was home at the time of the blaze, and it was ruled an accident. Firefighters encountered smoke radiating from the third floor, and were able to extinguish the fire in the kitchen.

Officials reported no injuries at the time of the incident.
