Missing: A $3,000 Dog Worth All the Money in the World

Thousands of people are now on the lookout for Abby. And for good reason.

by Todd Richissin

See the picture of the dog with this story? Her name is Abby, she's special, and she's lost.

Abby vanished on the Fourth of July from her owner's home on Tilghman Island, MD. The island, as you might guess, is tiny, and seemingly every inch of it has been scoured. So the owner, Cindy McGrew, has expanded her search to Virginia and beyond.
Abby's no ordinary dog, which goes a long way to explain why a reward for her return has been upped to $3,000.

Abby is a service dog whose job it is to comfort wounded U.S. soldiers.

She is an 18-month-old female Rottweiler, and among her distinguishing characteristics are those two dots above her eyes.

Plenty of people are involved in the search. A "Find Abby" Facebook page has nearly 5,000 followers — and more pictures of the dog. And her own Youtube video has even more pictures.

McGrew is founder and president of Operation Second Chance, a nonprofit organization that supports wounded and sick servicemen and women recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
