PHOTOS: Twain Middle School Students Run Marathon for Sandy Hook Victims

Mark Twain Middle School student Danielle Emhof organized and planned for a relay team of students to run in the National Marathon last Saturday.

Danielle Emhof — an eighth grade student at Mark Twain Middle School — came up with the idea to run 1 mile in honor of each victim from the December school shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., during this year's National Marathon in D.C.

Following Danielle's plan for 13 students to run the first part of the race and for 13 more students to finish the race, Danielle and her team completed the marathon and ran 1 mile for each of the 26 victim's of December's tragic shooting.

This year's National Marathon took place Saturday in D.C.
