Police: Animal Control Apprehends Pitbull After It Becomes Aggressive Toward Officers

Fairfax County police were originally called to the area for a report of domestic violence.

Fairfax County Animal Control apprehended a pitbull dog around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday after the dog became aggressive toward an officer in the Windermere neighborhood in Kingstowne. FCPD originially responded to a domestic violence report that was called in around 2 a.m., said PFC Don Gotthardt.

Gotthardt said officers were not in the area for six hours straight, but must have returned when the incident occurred. When police responded to the residence, the dog became aggressive. An officer deployed his tazer, and the pitbull ran out into the neighborhood. With the use of a police helicopter, officers and Animal Control were able to apprehend the dog.

No one sustained injuries during the incident Wednesday morning. Gotthardt said Animal Control will probably quarantine the dog now that it has been captured.
