Under Water: Where Does It Flood Around Town?

Flash flood watch begins tonight for most of the area. Tell us the first roads to avoid in town.

As rain continues to fall and a long flash flood watch begins at 10 p.m. Tuesday night, you know which roads to avoid and which sidewalks need a posted lifeguard. And it's time to tell your neighbors.

The watch is expected to last until late Wednesday night for the region form Spotsylvania heading north into Maryland. Total rainfall is expected to average between 3 inches and 5 inches. The NWS warns that heavy rain in a short period of time may flood creeks, streams and urban areas.

Which areas flood first? Tell us in the comments section below.

"Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation," according to the NWS statement. "Rapidly moving water is powerful and can be a threat to vehicles as well as people and property."

Area residents should continue to monitor news reports in case warnings are issued.
