Unseasonably Warm Temperatures Monday, Tuesday

The greater Springfield and Alexandria areas will see unusually warm temperatures early in the week.

The calendar says December, but springlike temperatures will warm up Northern Virginia on Monday and Tuesday. 

Our area will see temperatures reaching the mid-to-upper 60s at the start of the week, according to the National Weather Service before colder temperatures return.

Temperatures Monday and Tuesday are expected to reach 67 degrees, 20 degrees warmer than the average high of 47 degrees. By Wednesday, temperatures will start to descend, hitting 57 degrees for a high.

By Thursday, it'll be time to bundle up, with highs reaching 47 degrees.

The week will be partly cloudy, with the sunniest day forecast to be Thursday.

Temperatures will start to climb again, getting into the 50s on Friday and Saturday. Chances for rain increase to 30 percent for both days, according to the National Weather Service.
