Here are some family-friendly activities for the weekend of Jan. 6-8.

Advent Calendar Closing Celebration and Silent Auction

  • Why Go: Twenty-four works of art produced by area schools, churches, and community organizations were revealed each day of the Advent calendar, and now these works of art are.  Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic.  Refreshments and family friendly activities will be available.

ArtNotes presents “Shade Parade”

Winter Ranger Hike

  • Where: , Lorton
  • When: Sunday, Jan. 8 from 1 – 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Meet at the Bayview Trail Head for a guided tour where you’ll learn about park wildlife and ways to preserve nature.  Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.  You’ll also need a bottle of water and, of course, your camera.
  • Price:  The weekend parking fee for passenger vehicles is $4
