Cox Adds 24-Hour Japan Channel for One Week, After Japanese Earthquake

Live video feed of TV Japan is 24-Hour Japanese news channel in Japanese and English

In the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit Japan on Friday, Cox Communications-Virginia announced in a news release that it is providing immediate access to live programming from TV Japan, at no cost for a limited time. Cox Advanced TV customers in Fairfax County have access to TV Japan on Cox Channel 287.

TV Japan is a 24-hour Japanese language channel. It is the only Japanese TV channel available in the US and Canada and airs comprehensive news coverage in both Japanese and English.

Access to TV Japan started at 6 p.m. ET Friday on Cox Channel 287. The no-cost, live feed is expected to be available to Cox customers through Friday. Providing access to the 24-hour coverage through TV Japan helps residents to follow the events in Japan much more closely, the company noted.

“We are deeply concerned by the images we’ve been seeing from Japan and we understand the urgency of our customers in wanting to have up-to-the-minute information,” said Leigh Woisard, vice president of Public Affairs, Cox Virginia. “Sharing access to TV Japan with our customers in this way helps our community stay apprised of the events as reported by that country’s leading broadcaster.”
