Who's Hiring? Home Depot Aims to Add Employees in the Spring

The company is making its yearly hiring push — 80,000 nationwide — for its busiest season. Home Depot in Springfield is currently accepting applications.

Home Depot is pushing to fill 80,000 positions nationwide — 10,000 more than last year around this time — by spring, their busiest season, according to CNN Money, including some positions locally.

Tim Crow, Home Depot's executive vice president, said in a statement that the company often finds some of its best associates during the peak season and those associates have long careers with them.

An associate with Home Depot on Frontier Drive in Springfield said they are currently accepting applications for cashiers and associates for the gardening department.

Home Depot — an Atlanta-based chain — cut 7,000 jobs and closed several brands in 2009. Since the housing market has started showing positive signs, Home Depot has made a push to hire associates in the spring, adding 60,000 seasonal associates in 2011 and 70,000 in 2012, CNN reported.

The chain employs about 300,000 at 2,256 locations throughout North America. Applicants can apply online for positions, and military veterans can use a recently launched application tool designed for them.
