Telegraph Station Upgrades Welcome Live Music

Renovations and additions make for small, intimate concert venue.

recently underwent a number of renovations and upgrades to accommodate more live music.

The restaurant and bar was closed during the week of Thanksgiving to make a few changes, including the addition of booths and new taps behind the bar. Co-owner Dave Wysong said he hoped the changes would allow for ticketed live music events.

“Now it’s set up as more of a listening-room type of environment,” Wysong told Patch. “We want to get quality acts and be able to sell tickets.”

Telegraph Station acquired the booths from . Evening Star was undergoing renovations of its own, and Wysong said they no longer had a need for the booths.

A small stage has also been installed at the front of Telegraph Station, rounding out the intimate concert venue feel the owners are going for.

More Changes to Come

Wysong said the restaurant is ready for concerts—tonight is the first—but that the renovations aren't quite complete.

"We're still working on it," he said. "We also hired an interior decorator, so she's going to help us make it look nice."

There are plans for the back room and the coffee bar as well. "The back room will still be a kiddy area," Wysong said, "but we want to make it more of lounge area."

Eventually, Wysong wants to expand the coffee area, and install a bar that wraps around to the back room. Ideally, he said he'd like to remove the cooler near the cash register and add a bar. He also wants to cut away some of the back wall, so that live acts on stage can be seen from the back room.

But the decor and furniture isn't all that's been changed. The menu has also been tweaked.

"We scaled back some of the sandwich options," Wysong said.

The owners wanted to expand the breakfast options, and there is now a breakfast menu with bagel sandwiches.

"And we added bacon," he said. "That's a big game changer."
