The Metropolitan School of the Arts Tap Ensemble is the resident, pre-professional tap dance company at the Metropolitan School of the Arts in Lorton, Va.  Tap dancers are 12- to 17 years old, and most of them have been tap dancing since kindergarten.  The 11 dancers in this year’s company are selected and audition every year to be a part of the ensemble.  They have performed in a variety of venues from New York City to Chicago, as well as the Atlas Performing Arts Center and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

“We are honored to be a part of The Wednesday’s Child program, where our students are able to interact and engage with a group of amazing children,” said Melissa Dobbs, president of Metropolitan School of the Arts of Lorton, Va. “Our youth ensembles were established to not only help our students fine tune their craft, but to volunteer our performances to our community,” said Dobbs.
