1. Cooler today with a high of 74 degrees. There’s a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. 
2. Today at 7:15 p.m. join the Book Discussion Group at Rose Hill’s John Marshall Library where they'll talk about Caleb’s Crossing.
3. Back to School Nights for Rose Hill and Clermont Elementary Schools will be held tonight.
4. On this day in 1978, boxer Muhammad Ali defeated Leon Spinks at the Louisiana Superdome, nabbing the world heavy weight boxing champion title for an unprecedented third time in his career.
5. Virginia and Microsoft announced a statewide partnership to provide Information Technology (IT) training to every high school student. Fairfax County’s Edison High is included in the initial Phase I project effort. Students will be able to earn Microsoft Office certifications by completing the Microsoft IT Academy coursework and passing industry-recognized certification exams, giving them skills employers seek.
