'Biscuit' the Elusive Shih Tzu is Ready for Adoption

Biscuit spent about two years on the streets after running away from his owners.

It has been more than a month since Animal Control Officer Enna Lugo captured the then-elusive "Biscuit" after Animal Control officers spent two years trying every trick in the book to catch the stray shih tzu.

"Whenever I came to catch Biscuit, neighborhood residents would tell me the last place they had seen him," Lugo said after finally capturing the dog. "Everyone tried to help get him off the streets."

Now, Biscuit is officially ready for adoption according to Kristen Auerbach, the animal shelter outreach coordinator. Auerbach said they have not yet received phone calls from people interested in adopting Biscuit, but hope to put out a press release soon officially announcing his availability.

Biscuit was a puppy when his owner brought him home. The owner told Animal Control that Biscuit fled the same day he was purchased from a breeder on Craigslist. Biscuit spent his days on the streets of the Franconia area, while residents, children and Fairfax County officials made multiple attempts to catch him.

When Biscuit was finally caught, the vet removed more than 40 ticks and treated Buscuit for a skin infection. Other than that, the small pup is in good health and is estimated to be about three or four years old.

The animal shelter will accept multiple adoption applications for Biscuit and choose the best home and family for the dog.
