Muammar Qaddafi Killed Thursday

Fosbury Flop debuts, Run with the Eagles.

Here are five things we thought our readers would be interested to know today. If you have an event you'd like for us to feature, please submit it in the comments section below and check back tomorrow to see if your event made the list.

  1. It’s going to be brisk. Today will be partly cloudy and a bit windy with a high of 61 degrees.
  2. Libyan Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi was killed Thursday as his hometown of Surt was seized after a prolonged struggle.
  3. The Cardinals took the first game in this year’s World Series against the Rangers. Game two is tonight.
  4. On this day in 1968, Dick Fosbury won gold and set an Olympic record in the high jump. It was the international debut of his unique jumping style affectionately called the “Fosbury Flop.”  This controversial way to jump caught on and since 1980 no one using any other technique has held the high jumping world record.
  5. Run with the Eagles! Support Edison High School athletics and get a little exercise with a 5K fun run Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8 a.m.
