Dog Licenses Due Jan. 31 in Fairfax County

The fee to purchase a dog license is $10 for all dogs.

All dogs four months of age and older must be licensed in Fairfax County by Thursday, Jan. 31. The fee for a dog license is $10 for all dogs, and the license lasts for one year.

License tags are free of charge to those who own dogs that are trained service dogs for the blind, deaf or mobility-impaired.

Dog owners can purchase a license by mail, online or in person. To purchase a license by mail, send a completed copy of the Dog License Application, a check payable to the County of Fairfax and a current certificate of rabies vaccination to the County of Fairfax, Department of Tax Administration, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 223, Fairfax, VA 22035.

To purchase a dog license in person, bring a completed copy of the Dog License Application, a check payable to the County of Fairfax and a current certificate of rabies vaccination, to the Department of Tax Administration at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 223 or the Animal Shelter at 4500 West Ox Road.

The Department of Tax Administration is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The animal shelter is open from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
