'Don't Ask Don't Tell' Ends After 18 Years

Paddling the Potomac tonight, Edison High School news.

  1. We’re back to rainy weather today, at least for the morning hours. The high should be around 76 degrees with a 40 percent chance of scattered rain and thunderstorms.
  2. Mark Twain Middle School 7th grade holds its Back to School Night tonight, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. Back to School Night for Edison High School is set for Wednesday, Sep. 21 at 6:30 p.m. 
  3. The repeal of the 1993 law commonly known as "Don't Ask Don't Tell," ends today after 18 years. 
  4. Tonight at 7 p.m. at the Fairfax REI on Grand Commons Avenue: “10 Must-Knows (or what no one told us) about Paddling the Tidal Potomac”. Listen as Whit and Joe recount their 7-day trek down the Potomac to raise awareness for keeping pollution out of the river. This promises to be as entertaining as it is informative for anyone interested in paddling and/or understanding the river.
  5. Yesterday Governor Bob McDonnell announced that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has granted the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) preliminary approval for his administration's plan to toll I-95 under the Interstate Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Pilot Program.
