Police think the serial burglar has been nabbed; and isn't it too early for Christmas decorations?

The big news is the arrest of a man Fairfax County Police say they are going to charge as the man responsible for a series of 100-plus burglaries in the county. Meanwhile, it's Thanksgiving—almost—and Fairfax residents weighed in on what they thought of all these Christmas decorations. The county had some school developments this week, a band has an out-of-this-world name and an out-of-this-world video has a rather mundane explanation.

Fairfax County Police say a man arrested Thursday in Montgomery County, Md., is the person they believe who burgled homes throughout the county.

Thanksgiving doesn't have to be stressful

A newborn baby girl was found in a pink duffel bag outside of a Springfield church around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning by a parishioner. Police were summoned and the baby was taken to the hospital. She is in good condition and in the care of the Department of Family Services. Police are currently looking for the mother, as she is likely in need of medical attention.

Bureau does about face
In an abrupt about face the Bureau of Land Management abandoned its plan to replace the 46-stall barn/arena with a 20-stall facility at Meadowood Special Recreation Area. The change came after angry citizens criticized both the plan and the lack of transparency behind it. With a deadline to spend allotted funds by Sept. 30, 2011 the BLM will now be starting from scratch.


Vienna residents will have the chance to give input on amendments to the town's noise ordinance and handicap ramp provisions at public hearings next month as Town Council considers a stricter noise ordinance and relaxing the permit process for handicap ramps.
