Flood Watch in Effect for Alexandria

Up to two inches of rainfall could accumulate this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Northern Virginia area through late Sunday night. A flood watch means expected weather conditions could potentially cause flooding.

Moderate to heavy amounts of rain are expected to fall this afternoon through early evening with accumulations of 1 inch to 2 inches on average and certain areas experiencing greater amounts. Small streams and creeks may rise beyond their banks and residents should take precautions.

Residents should stay alert for flood warnings and those living in low areas should be prepared to take action in case flooding occurs.
