Forecast Calls for Rain, Rain and...More Rain

Northern Virginia could see several inches of rain this week; 90 percent chance through Tuesday evening and dwindling by end of the week.

UPDATE (Tuesday, 2:25 p.m.): The National Weather Service has extended their Flash Flood Watch for areas within the National Capital Region through Saturday morning.

If you're one of those people who think Northern Virginia really needed some rain this week, than you're in luck. The National Weather Service is calling for the wet stuff all week long, courtesy of Tropical Storm Lee.

The area is under three alerts:

  • A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday evening.
  • A Coastal Flood Advisory was set to expire Tuesday (today) morning.
  • A Hazardous Weather Outlook means the threat of heavy rain will continue until Thursday.

The NWS predicts a 90 percent chance of rain for today and tonight with percentages dwindling to 40 percent later in the week.
