We've changed the title of our Weekend Guide, but we haven't changed any of the great events happening in your community this weekend. Here are our picks:

Franconia Museum hosts "Franconia in the Civil War"

  • WHAT:  The members of the Franconia Museum will put on a two-day celebration of Franconia's role in the war for the Civil War Sesquicentennial.
  • WHEN:  Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, May 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • WHERE: , 6601 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22310
  • HOW MUCH:  $5; $2.50 for children 15 to 18 and seniors; Free for children 14 and under.

  • WHAT:  The Got Hope Walkathon was started by Edison students in 2007 when the student body suffered the death of one class mate and another was diagnosed with Leukemia. Every year the walk is held in hopes of becoming one step closer to curing cancer and stopping suicide.
  • WHEN:  Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

King Street Bluegrass Band at Telegraph Station

  • WHAT:  Swing by Telegraph Station this evening for a cold beer and some great live music from Alexandria's own .
