I-395 Southbound Blocked Due to Accident

Emergency responders on the scene, but traffic may be backed up through the evening commute.

Southbound traffic on I-395 is stopped between Duke Street and Edsall Road, according to WTOP's traffic team.

Emergency responders are working on a crash in the area.

The HOV lanes are getting by at this time in the southbound direction. The shoulder on the main lanes is expected to open soon.

Because of the multi-vehicle accident, traffic is significantly heavier than normal getting out of DC and heading through Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County. 

The Virginia Department of Transportation's 511 online service reports traffic backups are approximately 5.5 miles.

Motorists are strongly advised to consider alternate routes for their evening commute and avoid I-395 South.
